The Leica CM1850 has an actively cooled (-45°C) specimen quick freezing shelf with space for the storage of 10 specimen disks. Optional Peltier cooling to quick freeze specimens down to -60°C. 2 speed motorized coarse feed moves specimen toward or away from knife quickly. The slower forward speed used in conjunction with a rocking motion of the handwheel permits the operator to quickly trim away excess OCT and achieve full face of the specimen. Section thickness settings from 1 to 60um. Leica 2020-C stainless steel microtome. Built-in enclosed drain system reduces chance of aerosolization of infectious agents. Precision crafted spindle feed and roller bearing slide for precise sectioning qualities. Easily removable microtome for quick cleaning to minimize risk of infection.
