Unknown to most, many older turn of the century brick industrial buildings are comprised of heavy sub-floor construction. It is not uncommon to see a solid 2x4, 2x6 or 2x8 board with no spacing, just back to back for the full length of the building. That is a massive amount of wood just waiting to be reclaimed. Up to now, most have not found the value. But, to me, it is a diamond in the rough. Today Asia has made wood pellets and wood chips a significant source of fuel for burning. So, why send this used 2x material to an early grave at a landfill when it could be converted for use as fuel. I am just now logging as much of this unused sub-floor material as possible for use as fuel. Do let me know if you have a lead on an old building ready to be demolished. A commission on the sale lies a waiting for all who assist in getting this wood onto a path of reuse.
